Hello there. My name’s Richard. Welcome to my blog.

I’ve been playing Tabletop Role-Playing Games for over 30 years. I’ve been thinking and writing about the ways in which we, as humans, communicate for over 20. It has finally occurred to me to merge those two trains of thought in a single blog space. I am, on occasion, a slow learner.

Here you’ll find my thoughts on RPGs: writing them, running them, and playing them. You’ll also get my take on how rhetoric (the focus of my academic study) can be applied in RPGs. Role-playing, as a platform for human interaction, allows us to explore the nature of communication in ways that would be impossible (or highly ill-advised) otherwise. If there’s a raison d’etre for this blog, it’s to advocate for broadening our minds on how we use play to explore the human condition.

You can also find me ruminating at my Facebook page, or at my Twitter Feed.
